Waverly is the closest town on this list to Bill Jurey's office. It is about 11 miles and 18 minutes from 285 S 68th St Place, northeast of Lincoln by I-80 or US-6. That makes Waverly an easy place to work with in person: come in, sit down, and go through your options with your medications on the table.

Waverly had 4,533 residents on July 1, 2025, up from 4,277 in 2020 (Census Bureau). Roughly 830 of them, about 18.6%, are 65 or older, though the survey sample for a town this size is small (American Community Survey, 2020 to 2024). Like Lincoln, Waverly is in Lancaster County.

How does Bill work with people in Waverly?

From Waverly, a meeting at the office can fit into any other errand in Lincoln. A first meeting usually runs 30 minutes to an hour. Phone and video meetings work just as well if you would rather not make the trip.

The review starts with your medications, then moves to your doctors and hospitals, what a hospital stay would cost you, and your monthly budget. Bill shows you the options and the math, and you decide. There is no fee for any of it.

Where do Waverly residents go for hospital care?

To Lincoln. Waverly has no hospital, so the hospitals that matter in a Medicare Advantage network are the Lincoln ones:

  • Bryan Medical Center East, 1600 S 48th St, at 48th and Cotner
  • Bryan Medical Center West, 2300 S 16th St, a Level II trauma center
  • CHI Health St. Elizabeth, 555 S 70th St, near Bill's office

Check your primary care doctor separately. A doctor you see closer to home and the hospital that doctor sends you to can have different network status in the same plan. Look up both by name, for the 2027 plan year, in every plan you are considering.

The Lincoln location page lists the rest of the Lincoln hospitals, including Madonna, Lincoln Surgical Hospital and CHI Health Nebraska Heart.

What changes for Waverly Medicare plans in 2027?

The same changes Lincoln sees, because plans are sold by county. For 2027, CMS data shows 26 standard Medicare Advantage plans in Lancaster County, three fewer than in 2026. Medica no longer offers Medicare Advantage in the county, and Devoted Health is new.

If you are in a plan that is ending, you will get a notice. You can switch to another Medicare Advantage plan, or return to Original Medicare and add a Part D drug plan. A plan exit also gives you a guaranteed issue right: return to Original Medicare and you can buy certain Medigap policies without answering health questions, if you apply before the federal deadline.

Remember that plan availability, premiums, networks and benefits are set county by county and can change every January. Ask Aging Partners whether one is on the calendar for this fall.

Other options:

  • Nebraska SHIP (formerly SHIIP), the state's counseling program: 1-800-234-7119, or the Lincoln office at 1526 K Street, Suite 201.
  • Eagle Senior Center, 1009 G Street in Eagle, open Tuesdays (402-332-7367). It is in Cass County and run through ENOA.

What should Waverly residents do before December 7, 2026?

Spend 20 minutes on your 2027 coverage now, while there is time to fix a problem.

  1. Open the Annual Notice of Change letter from your plan and look for changes to your premium, drug coverage and network.
  2. Write down the Lincoln hospital you would choose for planned care, and confirm it is in your 2027 network.
  3. Check each prescription against the 2027 drug list, and check the pharmacy you actually use. If you fill prescriptions in Lincoln or by mail, make sure that pharmacy is in the plan's network, and ask whether it is a preferred pharmacy with lower copays.
  4. If you have a standalone drug plan, compare it again. Nebraska has 9 standalone Part D plans for 2027, down from 11 in 2026, and CMS says every Nebraska enrollee in one can find a lower premium than they paid this year.
  5. Switch, if you need to, between October 15 and December 7, 2026.
